Accusing the government of corruption, he (Khwaja Asif) said he felt ashamed when the names of family members of top personalities came up for involvement in corruption scandals. He said Rs5 billion had been recovered from rental power projects while Rs12 billion was still to be recovered.

“All of them, in and without uniform, have bowed before the US for $7.5 billion in Kerry-Lugar money. We cannot defend our eastern or western borders if we keep relying on US dollars,” Asif added, saying that the rulers had brought the country on the brink of being declared a failed state.
