India says Pakistan shown as terror 'sanctuary'

India has long accused Pakistan of providing shelter and logistical support to militant groups planning attacks on Indian soil.

The killing of Al-Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden near Islamabad is further evidence that terrorists find "sanctuary" in Pakistan, Indian Home Minister P. Chidambaram said on Monday.

"We take note with grave concern that part of the statement in which President Obama said that the firefight in which Osama bin Laden was killed took place in Abbottabad 'deep inside Pakistan'," Chidambaram said in a statement.

"This fact underlines our concern that terrorists belonging to different organisations find sanctuary in Pakistan," he said.

Reiterating India's belief that perpetrators of the 2008 Mumbai attacks -- blamed on Pakistan-based militants -- continue to be sheltered in Pakistan, the minister urged Islamabad to arrest suspects identified by Indian intelligence.

Indian Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna said the death of Osama was an "historic development and victorious milestone," and, in another clear reference to Pakistan, stressed the need to root out militant safe havens in South Asia.

"Over the years, thousands of innocent lives of men, women and children have been tragically lost at the hands of terrorist groups.

"The world must not let down its united effort to overcome terrorism and eliminate the safe havens and sanctuaries that have been provided to terrorists in our own neighbourhood. The struggle must continue unabated," Krishna said.

Nicolas Sarkozy launches attack on Pakistan over terrorist safe havens

Mr Sarkozy said terrorist groups were free to launch attacks on India and Nato troops in Afghanistan from Pakistan.

His comments echoed those made by British Prime Minister David Cameron who said Pakistan could not be allowed to "look both ways" or export terrorism to its neighbours during his visit to India in July this year.

President Sarkozy was speaking in Mumbai where ten 'fedayeen commandos' from the Pakistan-based Lashkar e Taiba militant group killed 166 people in a three day massacre.

He said: "It is unacceptable that India's security can be threatened by groups of terrorists acting from neighbouring countries.

"It is unacceptable for Afghanistan and for our troops that the Taliban and al-Qaeda find safe haven in the border regions of Pakistan. We know the price that the Pakistani people are paying for terrorism. But it is unacceptable for the world that terrorist acts should be masterminded and carried out by terrorist groups in Pakistan," he said.

Here is a video about pakistan's complicity in terrorist attacks on India, confessed by gitmo detainees, as disclosed by wikileaks.

However, US failed to provide this info to India, and has stubbornly refused to take any action against pakistan.

So much for American friendship with India.
